Taken down in sections from the top

Where there is no room to fell a tree, it comes down in sections from the top.

How a job runs.

Four steps, the same on every job.

  1. Look

The tree, the access and anything nearby checked first.

  2. Agree

The work and the price agreed before we start.

  3. Cut

Felled, pruned or taken down in sections.

  4. Clear

    Brash chipped, garden left tidy.

What affects the price.

Every quote is set by the job itself, and these five things move it most.

  • Size and height

How big the tree is, and how high the work goes.

  • Access

How the kit gets in, and whether there is room to fell.

  • What is nearby

How close it stands to a building, a road or a line.

  • Waste

How much brash and timber there is to chip and take away.

  • TPO consent

Whether a protected tree needs an application first.

Questions.

Do I need permission to take a tree down?

Only if it is protected. A Tree Preservation Order needs council consent, and a conservation area needs six weeks’ notice to the council.

Can you take down a tree in a small garden?

Yes. Where there is no room to fell it, the tree is taken down in sections from the top.

Do you clear everything away?

Yes. Everything is chipped and taken away, unless you would like to keep the woodchip or the logs.

Can you remove the stump as well?

Yes. We run our own stump grinder, so the stump can be ground out once the tree is down.

The tree is next to a road. Can you still do it?

Yes. If the job needs traffic management, we bring in a specialist company who also apply for the permits, and it’s all set out in your quote. For work close to a road, we put out our own signs and cones.

Are you insured?

Yes. Travis Arb carries £5m public liability and £10m employers’ liability insurance, and the whole team is Forestry First Aid trained.
