Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement.

Travis Arb Ltd is a small tree surgery and utility arboriculture business based in Rainhill. The law does not require us to publish this statement, because our turnover is far below the £36 million threshold in section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We publish it anyway, because the network operators and contractors we work for rightly expect it, and because we want to be open about how we work.

Our business and supply chain

Travis Arb Ltd (company number 16655849) does two kinds of work. We look after trees for homeowners and businesses across Merseyside and Cheshire, and we clear trees and hedges near overhead power lines for contractors working on the electricity network in the North West.

We are a small team led by James Travis. On some jobs we bring in self-employed arborists to work alongside us.

What we buy is simple:

  • Machinery and climbing equipment: chippers, a stump grinder, ropes and harnesses.
  • Vehicles, fuel, servicing and parts.
  • Personal protective equipment and workwear.
  • Self-employed labour for some jobs.
  • Licensed disposal of green waste.

Where the risks are and what we do

For a business our size, the main risk is labour: people brought in to work on a job. The second is goods made overseas, such as workwear and protective kit, where supply chains can hide forced labour.

What we do about it:

  • We pay everyone who works for us directly into their own bank account, never through a third party.
  • We check the right to work of everyone we employ, as the law requires.
  • We meet every self-employed arborist ourselves and check their ID, tickets and insurance before they work with us.
  • We never hold anyone’s passport or ID documents, and never charge anyone a fee to work for us.
  • We do not use labour agencies or gangmasters.
  • We buy equipment, protective kit and workwear from established UK suppliers and dealers.
  • We follow the supplier requirements of the contractors we work for, including their own rules on modern slavery.
